The Gargoyle Gallop is an 8k (4.97 miles) neighborhood race run along Lake Michigan located in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood. The scenic lakefront course, the fun atmosphere (with costume contest), the easy parking and fun awards make this a memorable race.

For complete details on the race, download the PDF 2008 Race Fact Sheet.

Date & Time: The 26th running will occur on Sunday, October 26th at 9:00 am.

Register: Register through SignMeUp.com, click on the attached mail-in form, or visit Universal Sole.

Kid’s Races: Short-distance children’s races (from 1/8 to 1/2 mile) will be run immediately after the last 8k finisher (approximately 10:00 am).

Awards: Cash prizes ($100/ $50/ $25) and a set of Gargoyle bookends will be awarded to the top three men and women. Gargoyle pen holder cups will be awarded to the top three men and women in each 10 year age division.

Race Amenities: Gear check will be available. The course is USATF certified and USATF sanctioned. Two water stations will be available along the course. The course will be open for 90 minutes (up to an 18 minute mile pace).

Strollers: If you plan to run with a stroller, we ask that you keep toward the back of the pack and exercise extreme caution when passing other runners. As this is an out-and-back course, it is important to keep to the far right at all times during the race.

Beneficiary: The Gargoyle Gallop benefits the Blue Gargoyle, a 501(c)(3) that operates an alternative high-school and provides counseling, education and job training programs to more than 1,200 students, adults and families on the south side of Chicago annually—at no cost to its clients.
